Covered Call

Family Office Definition: Covered Call

Covered Call definition:  A covered call (also known as buy-write) is a strategy for stocks that are expected to have little price movement.  A covered call provides income to the investor by selling call options on a stock held long in portfolio.  The upside potential for the stock is capped at the call strike price. Potential losses are somewhat compensated by income from the call option premium.
