Credit Risk definition:  Credit risk, also known as default risk, refers to the ability of another party to uphold their obligation. Credit risk applies particularly to investments in corporate bonds or mortgage bonds, where the bondholder is at risk of not receiving principal or interest payment from the bond issuer.
