How does family office compensation work?

by Richard C. Wilson & Family Offices Group Association Team

Question: How does family office compensation work?

Answer:  It should be noted that family office compensation may differ by the family office and the agreement they have struck with their clients.  Generally, assets under management (AUM) is the method by which most family offices are paid by their clients. The client receives all-inclusive, comprehensive services and pays a set percentage based on annual asset size. Other methods of payment are hourly fees, fee for specific services, or a retainer fee. Fees paid for family office services, tax services, and investment management are tax deductible from income taxes.
