Family Office Definition: Tax-Loss Harvesting

Tax-Loss Harvesting definition:  Tax-loss harvesting is an income tax minimization strategy, where taxable losses are realized to offset realized capital gains in the same taxable year. The gains and losses may be taken from different securities, and the technique is complicated by the wash-sale rule when the same security is bought and sold.
