Where are most family offices based?

Question: Where are most family offices based?

Answer:  According to our database of family offices and other sources, the majority of family offices are based in the United States, particularly in large, wealthy cities such as New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles.  However, family offices exist all around the world from New Zealand to Brazil.

The U.S. is home to an estimated 3,000 family offices and that number is growing every year.  Europe is also a popular location for family offices, as many Europeans have long-embraced the family office model.  Still, Asia and Latin America and many emerging markets are becoming more accustomed to the family office concept and it is projected that the family office industry will grow even more global in the coming years.

Below, you can see the distribution of family offices around the world according to the Family Office Database which will give you an idea of where most family offices are based.
