Why should I attend a family office conference?

Why should I attend a family office conference?

by Richard C. Wilson & Family Offices Group Association Team

Question: Why should I attend a family office conference?

Answer: Around the world, there is a growing awareness and interest in family office wealth management. Fund managers want to raise capital from family offices, wealth management firms want to convert into family offices, and ultra-wealth individuals want to learn more about the industry before starting their own single family office or hiring a family office. Like all types of conferences, some are more valuable than others. Some family office conferences are invite only, some are free to attend if you are a family office, and most of them are held annually.

These conferences are most useful for family offices that are looking to connect with fund managers, service providers and fellow family offices to explore partnerships and trends in the space. While it may add to your credibility in the industry to speak at such an event, you will most likely not directly get any new clients for your family office business by attending such an industry conference.

I attend family office conferences every quarter and I’ve spoken at over 50 industry conferences now. Please do come up and introduce yourself if you see me at one of these events; it would be great to meet you in person. If you run an FO event and would like to have me come speak, you can learn more about that here.
